Rainer Auerbach was born in Zwickau in East Germany, where he received his first trumpet lessons in 1969 from his German and Music teacher G. Haubold and later from E. Schache at the Robert Schumann Conservatory.
In 1972 he began his formal studies at the College of Music “Felix Mendelssohn- Bartholdy“ in Leipzig, where Prof. Kurt Ramm from the Gewandhausorchester was his teacher.
1976 he became principal trumpet at the Robert Schumann Philharmonie in Chemnitz. Since 1979 he is Principal Trumpet of the ”Deutsche Staatsoper“, the famous State Opera of Berlin (chief conductor Daniel Barenboim).
Since then he has played all the big trumpet parts in the repertoire. Master classes and concert tours led him literally around the world.
He is Professor at the Free International Music School in Ramallah/Palestine and Professor at the “Academia Orquestal en Sevilla“ of the Barenboim-Said Foundation.
Every year he teaches two master classes in Japan and has been invited frequently as judge of competitions as “Deutscher Musikrat“. Rainer Auerbach is Professor at the College of Music and Theatre in Rostock, Germany.
He understands music as an international message of encounter and passion.
